Chapter Two

When Mia shows her father the picture she painted of her grandfather, her father says, “They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, you know. I can see Grandpa in those eyes.” (p. 25)  What does he mean by that?

  1. I think he means that you can see someones personality through their eyes. You can see the person as a whole, not just a face with a body. You can see who they REALLY are, not who they want you to think they are. I also think he said it because Mia painted it so good, and it REALLY looked like her Gradfather.

  2. That Mia had painted the picture of Grandpa so good, that it was like Mia's Dad could actually see Granpa in the painting. Usually, eyes are the main part of a persons face. The eyes have everything to do with it. And those eyes looked like Grandpa's.

  3. I agree with Alex. I think that he means you can see who someone is through their eyes, and you can see that in the eyes in the painting.

  4. I think that her dad means that he can see grandpas personality in the eyes that Mia painted and that he thought that the person in the painting looked like Mia's grandpa.

  5. I agree with Alexandra because the painting was so good that he actually saw Grandpa in the paintingf like it was a photograph.
