Chapter Seven

Mia and her mother seem to have differing perspectives on what, if anything, should be done about Mia's synethesia.  How do their perspectives differ and whom do you think is right and why?

  1. I think there perspective differs because I still think that Mia's mom thinks that theres something wrong with her, and that it' BAD that she's different. On the other hand, Mia thinks it's kind of cool that she has synesthesia and she can't really imagine her life without it. However, her mom thinks that it would be better for her and all of them if it was just all go away. I think her reason for thinking that is because of Mia's grades in Spanish and math, and she wants her improve and do better. I don't really agree with her mom because she knows that Mia likes it that way, but then again I don't agree with Mia because I don't know what it's like to be in her position.

  2. I think both of them are right. Mia wants to keep her colors because like she said "... it would be so bland, like a sundae without gummy bears." Something like that... But her mom is concerned about Mia and the classes that she fantazizes she got a happy sunflower yellow A, but really got a fat purple F. I think Mia should be able to kepp her colors (keep the gummy bears on the sundae!) but find a way to also not fail any classes!

  3. I think their perspective differs because Mia's mom wants her Synethesia to be taken care of and Mia think that the world would be kind of boring without her Synethesia. I think that both of them are right because there are upsides and downsides to her condition.

  4. I agree so far a little with everyone but this in my words is what i have to say: I think that her mom should have an opinion but Mia should have the final decision because it is her body and her condition and i think that she should make the decision of what to do with it and how she wants to control it.

  5. I think their perspectives differ because Mia's mom thiks that in a way synethesia is "hurting" Mia. On the other hand Mia thinks that life would be boring without synethesia. Mia said life would be like vanilla ice cream without gummys on top if she didn't have synethesia.
