Chapter Thirteen
Please share any thoughts, feelings, or opinions you had while reading this chapter that you'd like to discuss.
I feel very VERY sad that Mango died, and I know how sad it must make Mia feel because Mango was very special and important to her, and it was the last of her Grandfather so that probobly makes it even worse. I know what it's like to lose a pet that you have had for longer than it was supposed to live, because I had a fish named Lilly, and she lived for almost 3 years, and fish are supposed to live for on a fraction of that time, so in that sense, I can relate to what she must be feeling.
I agree, Shannon. Every time I read that part in this book, I cry. I feel SO BAD that Mango had to die because according to Mia, that was the only part of grandpa that was alive and left with them. And Mia is the only one that knows this. From the moment she saw him by he grave, she knew he was special. My old Guinea Pig, Nutmeg, had something wrong with her. I had read this book, and like Mia's dad noticed, I saw that Nutmeg wasn't finishing her food and water. Just like him, I didn't connect the two things. I didn't know that Nutmeg would die. But then I got Patches. Patches is so cute and lovable, she makes me remember Nutmeg and all the happiness I had with her.
I was surprised that Mango died and I was also surprised that Mia and Adam kissed because they hardly know each other and they had just met in person for the first time. I think Mia's mom was also surprised because she was pritty angry at Mia.
Same. And I am wondering why Mia said that it was OK for him to kiss her. They have talked on the phone once, and emailed. Their first time meeting each other and they could kiss? I find that very odd...
I also think it's interesting (and sad, of course), that in the context of the story, Mango died with a significant portion of the book remaining, which makes me wonder how Mia will cope with his death.

ReplyDeleteWell said, everyone. I was also quite surprised about the way Adam acted with Mia. It makes me a bit suspicious of his character.
