On pages 289-290 (please reread), Melanie and Bree have a conversation about the night before.
Melanie says, "You didn't look through the telescopes last night, right?"
Bree: "Right."
Melanie: "Why?"
Bree: "I don't know."
Bree then thinks, "I have a feeling she knew exactly why I didn't look."
What do you make of this scene? What was it all about? Why do you think Bree didn't look?
Wait what does that mean?

But if I had to guess, I would think that she didn't look because of what we think happened in 3rd grade to Bree, which is that she was made fun of for liking that astronomy stuff. I think Melanie sorta knows this, but couldn't really put the pieces together...

I think (just taking a guess) that she didn't look because like she said earlier "my inner geek has been released" I dont think she wants to show any more signs of "geekiness". I agree with Shannon, Melanie might know, but can't fit all the things together to get an answer.
ReplyDeleteI agree i think Melanie remembered about when she was an "inner geek" and new that how much she has changed has effected how she acts and also why she didn't look.
