Ally 6
With regard to her friendship with Ryan, Ally thinks, "It's almost like nothing's changed. Except, of course, everything has." (p.213)
What does this mean? How has Ally's friendship with Ryan changed? What do you think has caused it to change?
I think it means like in the last part, Ally and Ryan were next to each other like nothing has changed. Like the old days... except, lots has changed, like Ally and Ryan not hanging out with each other as much. Ally's friendship with Ryan has definitely changed by them not hanging out with each other as much as they did way back. I think a cause that has changed Ally and Ryan's friendship is partly, Bree. Ryan really likes her, so he has been spending more time with her. Like when Ally asked him and Bree if they wanted to do something with them Ryan said sure, but Bree said to count her out. Then Ryan said if Bree isn't, he isn't. Another cause is probably because they are growing apart from each other so its harder to stay friends...
I think the same thing as what Alex in the beginning of of her post, that when Ally and Ryan were in the shed together she thought it felt like their friendship was in the "old days". In reality though nothing is realy the the same in their friendship. This is because Ryan is more interestead in Bree (who is a so called a "hottie"according to Ryan) and not as much interested in Ally who spends some of her free time in alien central, which Ryan also thinks is fun but does not want to "admit" it in front of Bree.
I agree with Alex. I think that it means Ally WANTS everything to stay the same, but the truth is, its not. I think their friendship has changed because when a boy and girl are friends, as they grow up, the friedship gets weaker and weaker. It's because when some people see a boy and a girl hanging out together, they sometimes think they are boyfriends and girlfriend, adn tehn the boy and girl will be embarrassed to hang out anymore. And I think that the reason Ryan kind of backs out on Ally is because of Bree, because Ryan like Bree.
I agree with that too I thinks she wants it to stay the same but over the years of only seeing each other once a year and not seeing each other for so long an going to different "schools" and experiencing things differently that their friendship is sort of tearing apart. And Shannon, why would you think Ryan would back out if he liked Bree? Wouldn't you think he would want to hang out with her more?
I agree too. I think that she is refering to when Ryan was talking with Kenny behind her back and talking to him about 'hotties' and when Kenny asked him if Ally was a hottie he said that Ally was just Ally, and then he was acting like Bree was a 'hottie' and not hanging out with Ally anymore. I think Ally wants to be friends with Ryan but she thinks he is too ocupied with Bree.
